Otto Streicher (politician)

Otto Streicher (born May 15, 1882 in Giebichenstein near Halle (Saale) ; † 1945 in Auschwitz concentration camp ) was a German architect and local politician . As a social democrat , he spent the entire period of National Socialism in concentration camps .

Life

Born into a Catholic family, Streicher completed an education at a building trade school . He went to East Prussia and was employed by the building advice center in Angerburg . Recognized as an independent architect, he was district administrator in Angerburg from 1920 to 1927 during the Weimar Republic . From 1919 to 1921 he was delegated by the district council of the Angerburg district to the East Prussian provincial parliament. Re-elected in 1925, he resigned in 1928 when he became district administrator in his native Saalkreis .

He was removed from office by the National Socialists in 1933 and taken to the Oranienburg and Dachau concentration camps . His last sign of life came from Auschwitz.
