Otto Wahl (born July 9, 1904 in Zella-Mehlis ; † July 1, 1935 there ) was a German cross-country skier .
Career
From the mid-1920s, cross-country skier Otto Wahl was the most important athlete in his SC Motor Zella-Mehlis club . In 1924 he became German champion in cross-country skiing and four years later competed in the 18 and 50 km disciplines at the 1928 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz . From 1929 to 1931 Wahl took part in the Nordic World Ski Championships and achieved his best result in 1931 with an 8th place over 50 km. Over the distance of 18 km he finished 19th and over 50 km 10th. Wahl was one of the best athletes who did not come from one of the dominant countries in Scandinavia. Wahl took part in the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1929 in Nordic Combined and finished the competition in ninth place.
A few days before his 31st birthday, Wahl died of a brain disease.
In his honor, the Otto election run is organized by his club SC Motor Zella-Mehlis in his hometown .
