Otto Weber (politician, 1899)

Otto Weber (born June 5, 1899 , † June 15, 1970 ) was a German politician ( SPD , KPD , SED ). From 1945 he was district administrator of the Zeitz district in the administrative district of Halle in the province of Saxony in the state of Saxony-Anhalt and a member of the state parliament.

Life

He took part in the First World War and joined the USPD on his return in 1919 . In the following year he switched to the SPD, where he worked as an agitator and cashier for the SPD sub-district leadership in Zeitz until the parties were brought into line by the National Socialists in 1933. Professionally he worked from 1919 to 1934 in the district welfare office in Zeitz. In addition, Otto Weber belonged to the Central Association of Employees (ZdA) from 1919 to 1933 , of which he headed the Zeitz branch.

In 1934 Otto Weber was charged with illegal party work.

After the end of the Second World War , he joined the KPD . On July 17, 1945 Otto Weber was appointed by the Soviet military government as district administrator of the Zeitz district due to his KPD membership. He took over the office of Karl Heimerich , who was dismissed from service for political reasons immediately after the end of the Second World War. He became a member of the SED through the compulsory union and was elected to the state parliament in the semi-free state elections in the province of Saxony in 1946 .

As Ministerialrat of the Provincial Government of Saxony-Anhalt in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Otto Weber became a member of the Provisional Chamber of the GDR in 1949 . At the beginning of the 1950s he was imprisoned, from which he was released as an invalid in 1952. It was not until 1955 that his health was restored to such an extent that he could start working. He worked for several years as a cultural director and BGL chairman and retired early in 1961.

As a pensioner, he received several public awards and privileges as a persecuted person by the Nazi regime . He died a few days after his 71st birthday.
