Otto Zurmühle

Otto Zurmühle (born July 2, 1894 in Lucerne ; † December 19, 1974 in Lucerne) was a Swiss music teacher , conductor and arranger .

Life

Zurmühle attended the teachers' seminar in Lucerne. He completed the primary school teacher diploma in 1914 and obtained the secondary school teacher diploma the next year. He taught at the Lucerne City Schools from 1914 to 1964, and from 1945 onwards he also took on a teaching position for instruments and wind music instrumentation at the Lucerne Conservatory . From 1946 he also conducted the Lucerne Town Music Corps and the Surse Music Corps. He was best known for his arrangements for wind orchestras, published in music magazines, and wrote the teaching work Der Blasorchester Dirigent. From 1935 he was a permanent employee of the Swiss Wind Music Newspaper.
