Ottorino Caracciolo (* 1855 in the province of Bari , † 1880 in Paris ) was an Italian painter .

biography

Ottorino Caracciolo grew up in the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies and was the brother of Luigi Caracciolo (born August 10, 1847/49 in Andria , Province of Bari, † 1887 in London ), a singer, singing teacher and composer, who later went to and from the United Kingdom Made a career.

Ottorino Caracciolo first studied painting in Bari with the painter N. Zito and then attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples. Probably on the advice of family friend F. Netti, who had returned to Italy from a long stay in France, Caracciolo then moved to Paris in 1872 to paint.

He took part in the Paris World's Fair in 1878 . In 1880 Caracciolo was accepted into the Salon de Paris with his paintings Panoplie and Une scène de boulevard .

The overall oeuvre, narrow due to his early death, is characterized above all by portrait painting, also in miniature format.
