Otuwhanga Island is an island off the north coast of the North Island of New Zealand .
geography
The 6 hectare island is located 13 miles east-northeast of Russell at the eastern end of the Bay of Islands and directly on the northern tip of Cape Brett . The 375 m long and 286 m wide island rises up to 133 m from the sea and is only separated from the mainland by an 8 m wide strait. Approximately 565 m north-east is the neighboring island Motukokako Iceland , which for the " The Hole in the Rock " ( The Hole in the Rock ) is known among tourists.
Administratively, Otuwhanga Island belongs to the Far North District of Northland .
