Ovelacker (also Overlacker or Ufelacker ) is the name of a Westphalian knight dynasty that belongs to the ancient nobility of the county of Mark .

history

The family provided the castle men in various castles in the county of Mark . Some members were also knights of the Teutonic Order . A branch of the family still lived in Riga in the 17th century .

The oldest testimony dates from 1266 , when Count Dietrich von Altena-Isenberg testifies that the widow and children of the knight Heinrich Uvelacker transferred their ancestral home , today the Niederschultenhof or Maihof in Langendreer , to the Elsey monastery . Later they lived on the knight's seat in Niedernhof near Herdecke , which is now covered by the Hengsteysee . They also owned the Temminghoven house in the 15th century .

The coat of arms shows a black lion jumping to the right in silver. On the helmet with black and silver covers and a black and silver bead, two silver feathers between two black bear paws .
