Overdose (* 2. April 2005 in Nottinghamshire , United Kingdom ; † 1. July 2015 in Hamburg , Germany ) was an English thoroughbred - racehorse . He competed twelve times on the Kincsem Park circuit in Budapest. By August 2010 he had won 14 of his 15 races. His 15th victory in the 16th race over 1,000 meters was achieved on April 17, 2011 at the Hoppegarten horse racing track , where he improved the 18-year-old track record for the 1,000 meter distance by 0.7 seconds to 57.1 seconds. On May 21, 2011, however, it was enough in Haydock Park (Great Britain) only to a place in the midfield. At another start in Ascot on June 14th, 2011 the stallion reached 4th place in the King's Stands Stakes after a strong start. He ended his career with a win in Italy.
Due to recurring hoof problems and injuries, Overdose often fell out and had a two year hiatus after being nailed up while shod. From the beginning of 2015 he was set up as a stallion at the Lindenhof Thoroughbred Stud, the stud fee was 4,000 euros. On July 1, 2015, he died of complications from colic .
The stallion was bred in Great Britain and was bought by Zoltán Mikóczy in November 2006 for 2500 euros. The owner, Zoltán Mikóczy , bought Overdose by accident. Overdose's coach was Sándor Ribárszki. In 2008, Overdose was the first horse to be named “Sportsman of the Year” in Hungary. Overdose is known for his peculiar style of canter , as he changes legs unusually often from right to left canter during a race. He also tends to cross his front legs slightly, which often resulted in him inflicting small injuries on himself while galloping. His mother Our Poppet ran only one race on October 19, 1999 in Lingfield , where she was seventh. The father is Starborough.
