Owen D. Leib

Owen D. Leib (* in Pennsylvania , †  June 17, 1848 in Catawissa , Pennsylvania) was an American politician . Between 1845 and 1847 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

The date of birth and the exact place of birth of Owen Leib are not known. He enjoyed a classic school education. After a subsequent medical degree and his admission as a doctor, he began to practice this profession in Catawissa. Politically, he became a member of the Democratic Party .

In the congressional elections of 1844 , Leib was elected to the eleventh constituency of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Benjamin Alden Bidlack on March 4, 1845 . Until March 3, 1847, he was able to complete a legislative period in Congress . This was shaped by the events of the Mexican-American War . During his time as an MP, Leib was chairman of the War Department's Expenditure Control Committee. He died in Catawissa on June 17, 1848.
