The Owetsch Glacier ( Bulgarian ледник Овеч lednik Owetsch ) is a 3.5 km long glacier on Smith Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It flows from the southeast slopes of the Imeon Range east-southeast of Drinov Peak in an east-southeast direction to Nikolov Cove .
Bulgarian scientists mapped it in 2008. The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in the same year after the medieval fortress of Ovech in northeastern Bulgaria .
