distribution

The beetles are widespread in Europe. They are often found in forests on mushrooms .

Way of life

Red robbers hunt for insect larvae in mushrooms. However, the animals may also ingest fungal fibers. In the event of danger, the animals stretch their abdomen forward and spread their jaws to intimidate the enemy. The larvae also live in mushrooms. They only feed on fungal fibers. After skinning three times, the animals pupate in a mummy doll . The finished beetle hatches from the pupa.
