Pál Gönczy ( Gönczy Pál ; born December 26, 1817 in Hajdúszoboszló , †  January 10, 1892 in Karácsond ) was a Hungarian educator and reformer of the Hungarian elementary school system .

Life

Gönczy was appointed to the Ministry of Education by József Eötvös in 1867 , where he fundamentally reformed the Hungarian primary school system. He gave u. a. Textbooks, atlases, globes, blackboards and calculation tables for teaching that were an integral part of primary school teaching for several decades.
