Péter Pázmándy (born June 7, 1938 in Budapest , † March 23, 2012 in Geneva ) was a Hungarian - Swiss football player and coach .

Career

Club career

Pázmándy played in his youth with Vasas Budapest . He played with the Hungarian junior national team in Vienna in 1956, and the journey continued to London. In autumn 1956 the political situation in Hungary was unclear (see Hungarian popular uprising ). The English junior association made it possible for the team to remain financially in London for the time being. The team later traveled to Vienna to return to Budapest by bus. However, all players refused to return home. The team then went to Switzerland to play for the Hungarian Red Cross in St. Gallen, Zurich, Geneva, Neuchâtel and Locarno. Pázmándy signed with Valér Németh and Dezső Makay for Servette FC Genève . He was suspended for 18 months on the initiative of the Hungarian Football Association. For the "Grenats" in Geneva, the midfielder played in the Charmilles from 1958 to 1968. Pázmándy was 1961 and 1962 under coach Jean Snella and star striker Jacques Fatton as a man in midfield with Servette Swiss champions . In the 1965/66 season he reached the runner- up with his club behind champions FC Zurich and was also in the cup final on April 11 in Bern against the championship team around Jakob Kuhn , Fritz Künzli and Klaus Stürmer . The final was lost with 0-2 goals. In the previous year, on April 19, 1965, he had lost the cup final with 1: 2 goals against FC Sion . He also played with Servette in the European cup competitions.

After his active career, he ran a café in Geneva from 1968.

Coaching career

He has worked as a coach at CS Chênois since 1968 and in the 1972/73 season the team was promoted to the highest Swiss league, then NLA, as runner-up in the NLB. In the years 1976–1982 he first worked as a trainer at Servette. In the 1978/79 season Pázmándy was Swiss master coach. His second time as a coach at Servette in the 1989/90 season ended quickly due to health problems.

From 1982 to 1984 he was a coach at Lausanne-Sports before he coached AC Bellinzona from 1984 to 1987 . With Bellinzona, he made it to the NLA in 1986. Further stations as a coach were at FC Sion, briefly returning to Servette in 1989/90 and from 1991 to 1995 at Stade Nyonnais.
