Poelcher
Pölcher is a German family name .
The family name "Pölcher" is a name of origin . The progenitor of the clan probably came from Polch or Pölich , both places in the Moselle region. Most of the "Pölchers" still live in the Moselle region today. Different variants of the name have formed through dialect pronunciation:
- pilgrim
- Pilcher
- Pelger
- Polger
Research into the family tables of all "Pölcher" still living in Germany has shown that there were already three lines of the family in and around Wintrich around 1700 . They are called
- Moselle line,
- Line Eifel and
- Immenstadt line
designated. A connection between the Moselle and Immenstadt lines can be documented.
coat of arms
In 1990 a meeting of all namesake took place. The "Pölcher" family coat of arms was created for this occasion.
It shows a golden inclined left stream in red, with crossed golden roofers' hammers at the top and a golden barrel at the bottom.
- The Schräglinksbach symbolizes the Moselle , because all three lines of the clan have their origin in this area.
- The roofer's hammers represent the Moselle line, as this trade has been inherited in it for generations.
- The Fässchen (salt barrel of St. Rupert, † around 715 as Bishop of Salzburg) stands for the Immenstädter line, which was founded by the salt factors Ludwig Alois and Franz Ludwig Pölcher.
Well-known namesake
- Ludwig Alois Pölcher, royal salt factor in Immenstadt
