Pölich an der Mosel is a municipality in the Trier-Saarburg district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Schweich on the Roman Wine Route .

history

Possibly on a postcard from 1976

Like many other places on the Moselle, Pölich belonged to the St. Maximin Abbey in Trier . In a document from 1140, Pope Innocent II confirmed the abbey ownership. The Kanzlerhof in Hauptstrasse is a reminder of this time . It was the Maximiner's estate. The house is dated to 1578.

North-east of Pölich on the old road to Schleich there is a wayside cross from 1555. This cross is the only known example of a sandstone cross with an inlaid crucifix from this period.

An old Roman aqueduct , which supplied a villa near today's church, also testifies to the long history of the place .
