coat of arms
Blazon : "Under a red shield head, inside a silver sword with a gold handle, in silver a green three-mountain, on it a double cross in the form of the Benedictine order." | |
Foundation of the coat of arms: Korlingen, which belonged to the Electorate of Trier until the end of the feudal period , was owned by the St. Martin Abbey ; she was also involved in the middle jurisdiction . St. Martin was a Benedictine abbey . The sign of the Benedictines, a double cross on a green three-mountain, is a reference in the lower part of the shield. The chapel, built in “Corlingen” in 1769, was dedicated to the martyrs Johannes and Paulus . You wield a sword as an attribute. Since 1952 St. Valentin is venerated as church and local patron. He also wields a sword as a symbol. In the shield head there is therefore a sword for the former patron saint and today's patron saint. |
Attractions
The small chapel in the town center is well worth seeing . The height above Korlingen ( Schellberg ) is popular for walks with a beautiful view over the Trier high-altitude districts of Irsch , Filsch and Tarforst and over the Ruwertal to the Hunsrück .
