Züsch is a municipality in the Trier-Saarburg district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Hermeskeil community . Züsch is a state-approved resort .

geography

The place is on the border with Saarland in the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park .

Züsch also includes the Birkenau, Hochwaldhof, Retzenhöhe and Rosenhof residential areas .

Züsch is a national park municipality in the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document around 1222.

With Züscher fief or rule Züsch one was territory referred that about 6,000 acre contained woods and fields and later to the Züscher Hammer , the melting mill and Neuhütten , smelters, Zinsershütten and Damflosserhütten belonged.

The Züscher fiefdom was a spontaneous man fief , with which the bailiffs Nikolaus and Johann von Hunolstein were first entrusted in 1256. In the 18th century, the rule of Züsch came into the possession of the barons of Dürckheim, who left it to the margrave of Baden in 1780 .

Justification for the coat of arms: The axes in the upper half point to the former Walloon forest workers' settlement in Züsch. The flower is said to symbolize the beauty of the landscape. The lower half indicates the former affiliation to the Züsch rule , the colors as well as the bars and stones are taken from the coat of arms of the bailiffs of Hunolstein .

  • The oldest Protestant church in the Trier-Saarburg district is in Züsch . It dates from the year 1837. The Protestant parish has its roots in the second half of the 16th century. The organ is one of two Spanish organs in Germany.
