Blazon : split from silver in front of red, in front the continuous red Electoral Trier cross , behind a silver snake staff.

Foundation of the coat of arms: Gutweiler belonged to the Electorate of Trier until the end of the feudal period, around 1800 . As a reference to this centuries-long national affiliation, the Electorate of Trier cross is in the first field of the municipal coat of arms . The saints Cosmas and Damian have been patrons of the Gutweiler church and community since time immemorial . They wield a snake staff as an attribute . In the second field, the snake is recorded as a sign of the local cartridge.

Catholic rectory, with church

The monumental Catholic church and the attached rectory are the main features of the site.

Catholic Church of St. Cosmas and Damian

The church of St. Cosmas and Damian was built in 1895 in neo-Gothic style. The architect was Eberhard Lamberty from Trier, the executive builder Peter Ambré from Waldrach. The foundation stone from June 10, 1895 is embedded in the outer wall. The church was consecrated in 1898. The simple hall with three window axes replaced the dilapidated old chapel. In 1953, according to plans by the architect Gerold Dietrich from Trier, a 22 m high church tower was built as a transverse structure to the nave, which also serves as an entrance hall after the original octagonal tower top had to be demolished in 1949. The neo-Gothic column portal was preserved. The tower is the landmark of Gutweiler.

In the church there is a stone votive altar , which was erected in 1634 by Dean Dr. Johannes Binsfelt was donated, and two stone figures of Saints Cosmas and Damian made of gray sandstone from the 17th century in the side niches. Of the rich interior fittings from the construction period, only the pulpit with the carved reliefs of the evangelists, the organ with the neo-Gothic organ case and the pews, acquired in 1902, still exist today.
