Hinzenburg ( Moselle Franconian : Henzebürch ) an der Ruwer is a municipality in the district of Trier-Saarburg in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Ruwer , which has its administrative headquarters in Waldrach .
geography
Hinzenburg is located in the upper Ruwertal . The Hinzenburgermühle also belongs to the community.
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1276 as Heynzinberch and later also as Henzenberg . Almost 200 years later, in 1466, the Archbishop of Trier had supreme jurisdiction over people and institutions.
Until the end of the 18th century the place belonged to the Electorate of the Palatinate . After the Left Bank of the Rhine was taken over by French revolutionary troops , it belonged to the Canton of Konz in the Saar department from 1798 to 1814 and became part of the Kingdom of Prussia in 1815 due to the agreements made at the Congress of Vienna . In 1816 the community was assigned to the district of Trier and from 1822 it belonged to the Rhine province .
Until November 7, 1970, Hinzenburg still belonged to the community of Kell and was then assigned to the community of Ruwer.

Municipal council
The local council in Hinzenburg consists of six council members, who in the local elections on 26 May 2019 a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Clubs and events
The parish hall, built in 2003, provides space for clubs and events. It was built mainly by the villagers over a two-year construction period.
Since 1966 there has been an annual soccer tournament for the parish cup between the parishes of Bonerath , Holzerath , Hinzenburg, Ollmuth and Schöndorf (all belonging to the parish of Schöndorf). The parish fair takes place in July.
Worth seeing
- The chapel dedicated to St. Magdalena dates back to 1772. It was built by the residents themselves. The altar dates from the 18th century.
- The chapel of the 14 emergency helpers was built in 1885.
- The chapel of the Sorrowful Mother of God dates from 1870 and houses a painting of Jesus with the sleeping disciples Peter, Johannes and Jakobus on the Mount of Olives by Josef Theis from Holzerath .
- The light sandstone cross on the Ruwerbrücke from 1862 is a privately built thank you cross.
Public facilities
In 2013, the Hinzenburg volunteer fire brigade celebrated its 60th anniversary.

Hinzenburg is on Landesstraße 143 between Pluwigerhammer and Heddert . The Ruwer-Hochwald-Radweg runs along the route of the former Hochwaldbahn .
