Lorscheid ( Moselle Franconian : Löhschd [ løːʃd ]) is a municipality in the district of Trier-Saarburg in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Ruwer , which has its administrative headquarters in Waldrach . The high forest community has won several awards in the competition Our village has a future .
Geographical location
Lorscheid is about 420 m above sea level. NHN on a southern slope on the edge of the Osburger Hochwald not far from the Moselle . The Lorscheider Bach flows on the southern boundary of the district and takes up the Welgerbach below the Burgkopf , which flows on the northern boundary , and is then called the Feller Bach . The place includes the Scholersmühle and the former Lorscheidermühle on the Lorscheider Bach.
history
Remnants of rubble from Roman settlements are located to the south-east and north of Lorscheid, Celtic barrows to the south-west and east of the place.
In 1211 the place was mentioned for the first time in the property register of the Trier Abbey of St. Maximin . Until the end of the 18th century it belonged to the parish of Fell and to the Maximin office . In the visitation report of the Archbishopric Trier from 1569 a chapel was mentioned for the first time, which was dedicated to St. Gertrud was consecrated. St. Gertrud is also the patron saint of today's late Romanesque parish church from 1804.
Lorscheid consists of the former districts of Wellscheid (in the southeast) and Lorscheid (village center by the church). There used to be another settlement on Matt , but it fell victim to the plague. On a map of the Archdiocese of Trier from 1645, the place is listed as Meyert .
At the end of the 18th century Lorscheid came to the Mairie and later mayor of Farschweiler , in 1934 to the Waldrach office in Ruwer and in 1968 to the Ruwer community .
To mark the 800th anniversary of the congregation, a separate festival was held at Pentecost 2011.
Population development
According to the Trier fire book of 1563 , there were 11 fireplaces (households) in Lorscheid, 8 in Wellscheid and 6 in Meirath , a total of 25 fireplaces.
In 1684 there were 12 fireplaces in Lorscheid and Wellscheid, by which time Meirath had become a desert .

Culture
Local associations are the VfB Lorscheid 05, the mixed choir, the home and tourist association, the volunteer fire brigade , the reservist comradeship and the Lorscheid youth group.
In the village is the private cultural center Theater Petipa , where concerts, theater, readings, ballet performances and art exhibitions take place. In addition, lessons in dance, singing and ballet are given.
Economy and Infrastructure
Public facilities are the kindergarten, the youth home, the village hall, the grill hut, the sports field and the pond treatment plant on the Lorscheider Bach. In Lorscheid there is a retirement home , several small and medium-sized businesses, holiday homes south and west of the village and the Spechtmühle youth welfare facility .

Signposted hiking trails lead through vast forests and quiet valleys. The restaurant Zum Wirtsgarten is located in the village . In June 2013 the Roman Celtic Path was opened near Farschweiler and Lorscheid.
Transport links
Lorscheid is on Landesstrasse 149 . To the road network of the city is connected via the connection points Mehring or Reinfeld of Highway 1 and the departure Osburg-Neuhaus the national road 151 (former. Federal Road 52 ). After Trier and Hermeskeil there are connections with public transport .
