Woodpecker mill

The Spechtmühle refers to a former mill to the left of the Lorscheider Bach near the town of Lorscheid in the Trier-Saarburg district , Rhineland-Palatinate . She is also the namesake of a youth welfare facility located there on the right of the brook .

The inhabitants of the woodpecker mill have been handed down from the 18th century. The mill was rebuilt in 1842 and later fell into disrepair.

According to Meyer's Orts- und Verkehrslexikon , the mill had six inhabitants in 1912/1913.

In the 1960s, the Landeszentralbank Rheinland-Pfalz built a building with a bunker to store currency reserves in the immediate vicinity , which was no longer needed at the end of the 1980s. The building was sold and is now used for systemically integrative youth work.
