coat of arms
Blazon : "Divided by silver over black, above a red glaive cross, below 9 (5: 4) golden balls." | |
Foundation of the coat of arms: Herl once belonged to the Echternach Abbey (1095), its landmark was the glaive cross . The patron saint of the Herl community is St. Quirinus of Rome , and the Herl Chapel is also dedicated to him. The attribute of the saint is the nine golden balls that Herl's coat of arms shows in the lower half. The Herler coat of arms can therefore be seen as a documentation of ecclesiastical and secular rule in the upper half ( Echternach Abbey ). In the lower half, there is also a religious location in which Herl's attachment to Saint Quirinus is documented. |
