Neuhaus is part of the local community Osburg in Rhineland-Palatinate , directly on Landesstrasse 151 (formerly Bundesstrasse 52 , old Poststrasse ).

Since ancient times, trade, military, travel and mail routes from the direction of Gaul ( France ) and Luxembourg to Augusta Treverorum (Trier) via the Hunsrück to Mogontiacum ( Mainz ) have led via Osburg-Neuhaus . According to oral tradition, Napoléon Bonaparte is said to have stopped here on his army's march to the east. There was a fixed post and coach connection between Trier and Mainz until car traffic gradually began around 1910. The Neuhaus district used to consist of one, then three buildings (18th – 20th centuries). The first building here was a post and horse changing station (post and coach repairs) with a restaurant, agriculture, butcher's and later (around 1910) with one of the first filling stations ( petrol hand pump) between Trier and Hermeskeil (former Bales inn). The building was completely destroyed by the US Army in an attack on Osburg by a fighter-bomber on the afternoon of March 15, 1945 and was later rebuilt with a gas station in 1949. Today there is a car workshop building with a gas station, three restaurants as well as a car inspection station and a residential building.

Between Osburg and Neuhaus a chain of bunkers belonging to the Siegfried Line , half underground and half above ground , one to two rooms, with telephone connections, supplies and so on, at intervals of about 100 meters was built before the Second World War , which was in the last days of the war were also partly used as a shelter and as a store for food (the bunkers near the village). After 1945 they were provisionally blown up by the French occupiers. The debris protruding from the ground was completely removed in the 1970s and can be recognized today by slight elevations in the earth.

From 1999 a larger industrial and commercial area with over 50 companies was created, which extends from the L 151 in the direction of Osburg and is close to the motorways 1 and 602 and the airports of Hahn , Luxembourg and Saarbrücken . It is roughly halfway between Trier and Hermeskeil and not far from Trier Moselle harbor and Trier main train station .
