PIXELvienna is the annual Austrian computer graphics and animation conference that takes place in Vienna . With an international perspective, discussions and workshops in all areas of computer graphics, PIXELvienna also presents the Siggraph Computer Animation Festival and the Pixel Battle & Party. The Austrian Computer Graphics Award will also be presented at the conference. Every year PIXELvienna invites well-known national and international computer graphic artists, computer game and computer film professionals to present their work.
The conference is organized by the Austrian association IG Computergrafik and is now regarded as the leading trade fair in Austria.
history
The first PIXEL congress took place at the Technical University of Vienna in 2006 and has been repeated annually since then. In 2014 the conference was renamed PIXELvienna to include Vienna as a location in the name and to avoid possible confusion with other conferences with similar names.

2007
Pixel 1.0 took place on March 24, 2007. guests included: Christopher Evans (Technical Director - Crytek ), Hanno Hagedorn (Senior Character Artist - Crytek), Wolfram Neuer (Technical Director - RABCAT), Ronald Kalchhauser (Art & Animation Tutor - Games College, formerly: Technical Artist Rockstar Vienna ), Reinhard Schmid (formerly: Lead Animator at Rockstar Vienna)
2011
The speaker line-up in 2011 included Andreas Deja , chief draftsman at Walt Disney Productions and member of the Oscar jury, TheBakery, Mootzoid, RTT, Digic, Framestore, Blizzard Entertainment and Christian de Vita.
2013
The 8th edition of the conference included the following people among the guests: Eric Goldberg ( Walt Disney Animation Studios ), Robert Blalack (VFX Director of the original “ Star Wars ” trilogy and of “ RoboCop ” and “The Day After” "), Simone Kesterton from the famous German adventure game developer Daedalic Entertainment (" Edna Bricht Aus "), and the Austrians Martin Pichlmaier and Felix Bohatsch from Broken Rules (" And Yet It Moves ").
2014
PIXEL was rebranded and has been called PIXELvienna ever since. It took place in the Academy of Sciences in Vienna.
2015
For the 10th anniversary, the conference was expanded to include an exhibition that documents the development of the event in photos and memorabilia. Among the guests were: Tobias Mannewitz (Creative Director - KARAKTER Studio ("Game of Thrones")), David Luong (Lighting & Compositing Artist - Blizzard Entertainment (" World of Warcraft ", " StarCraft II " " Diablo ")), Albert Hastings (CG Supervisor, (" Avatar ", "Alice in Wonderland")), Ralf Habel (Senior Software Engineer - Walt Disney Animation Studios ("Big Hero 6")), Francesco Coan (Technical Animator - DICE Stockholm ("Mirror's Edge Catalyst ")), Ken Fountain (Character Animator, DreamWorks Animation (" Kung Fu Panda 2 ")).
2016
In 2016, the Austrian Computer Graphics Award was presented for the last time annually, before it switched to a two-year rental cycle.
