The PKP class Tr21 was a tender locomotive for the freight train service of the Polish State Railways PKP.
history
148 machines of this locomotive were procured after the First World War (40 were bought from SA Forges in Belgium , 108 manufactured from Fablok in Chrzanów ).
The heavy locomotives were built according to design principles that were foreign to Europe and were reminiscent of American models. The powerful boiler was roughly comparable to that of the ČSD series 534.0 , it had a 2-cylinder engine with cylinders 615 mm in diameter. The locomotives from Belgium had a leading Bissel axle with a deflection of +/- 75 mm, the machines manufactured by Fablok had +/- 55 mm.
The four-axle tender of the 22 D 23 series was riveted and had Diamond type bogies .
The locomotives were referred to as DR class 56.39-40 during World War II . Stationing data cannot be found in the literature. They were retired by 1973.
Use in Czechoslovakia
Two locomotives remained with the ČSD after the Second World War and were designated as the 437.15 series. They were used in the company until 1947 and then returned to the PKP .
