PRW-11

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As PRW-11 (Russian codenamed "Вершина"; NATO reporting : Side Net ) was a Russian height finder of the states of the former Warsaw Pact called.

The PRW-11 was developed for air defense since 1958. The first series-ready devices were successfully tested in 1968 at the Dongusker military training area near Orenburg and included in the armament of the Soviet air force / air defense.

The entire apparatus was housed in three cabins. The transmitter / receiver booth with the parabolic antenna was built on a rotatable mount and was usually set up on a small heaped hill. The viewer cabin has been unfolded a little separately. A power supply unit was housed in another cabin.

The PRW-11 had been in use in the former NVA since 1962. The height is determined after the target has been assigned by a panoramic station or by an automated guidance and control system (AFLS). The PRW-11 did not have a secondary radar device.
