Already in the time of the GDR , the then SG Dynamo was one of the top sports clubs in judo. Various gold, silver and bronze medals have been won at national championships. Several female dynamo athletes won the GDR championship. Between 1975 and 1979 , Beate Huth was GDR lightweight champion five times in a row before moving to BSG Medicine Erfurt , where she won two more championships. Ann-Kathrin Zuckschwerdt won in 1977 and 1978 in the women's light heavyweight division and in 1979 Riechers in the same weight class. Rietz won the light middleweight division in 1980. Jana Perlberg was active in the super light weight division of the SG Dynamo in 1984 and from 1986 to 1988 four times GDR champion.
