The Ee 3/3 and Eea 3/3, current names Ee 936, Eea 935 or Eea 936, built by the Swiss Lokomotiv- und Maschinenfabrik (SLM) in 1985 and 1991, are three-axle electric shunting locomotives that can also be used in line service. They differ from the well over a hundred Ee 3/3 , Ee 3/3 II and Ee 3/3 IV built for Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) and some other customers in that they have a single axle drive instead of a rod drive and the more modern angular design. However, the basic concept of the shunting locomotive with a central driver's cab and stems was adopted.

construction

When the post, telephone and telegraph companies (PTT) needed shunting locomotives for their post stations in the mid-1980s, the last Ee 3/3 was built almost twenty years ago. Therefore, based on the tried and tested basic concept, a contemporary locomotive was designed. In particular, the rod drive has been replaced by a single-axle drive and the electrical equipment contributed by BBC and ABB is based on a thyristor control with shaft current series drive motors instead of a step switch and AC motors.

In addition to the PTT, the then EBT and BLS groups also took part in the order for a second series . The latter demanded the possibility of overhead line operation for the delivery of goods on the Gürbetalbahn. The locomotive delivered to the Gürbetal-Bern-Schwarzenburg-Bahn (GBS) therefore has additional accumulators that can supply the locomotive with electricity for a limited time. It therefore bears the type designation Eea 3/3. In addition, the maximum permissible speed for route service has been increased to 75 km / h.

The Ee 3/3 8–11 shunting locomotives delivered first were used by the Post in the larger post stations of Zurich Mülligen, Däniken, Bern and Lucerne. With the private railways in the fine distribution of freight wagons. With the reorganization of the delivery of goods, the SBB took over the final delivery with its own locomotives. The Post moved its transports in containers and replaced the post stations with sorting centers and the Ee 3/3 were shut down in 2009.

The private railway locomotives finally came to today's BLS through a merger . The Ee 3/3 were therefore given new tasks. The BLS needed some locomotives for the provision of the car loading wagons in Kandersteg as well as the preheating and provision of reinforcement wagons in various stations (in 2017 only Langnau , where the Bt 943 is provided to the S4). The Post locomotives and a BLS locomotive were sold from 2010. The Jura Railways (CJ) use them for freight traffic in the Ajoie and have retrofitted them with multiple controls for this purpose . The company Stadler Rail continues its two locomotives also for the delivery of vehicles. In order to be able to drive on the factory halls and sidings, she retrofitted her two locomotives with accumulators in the same way as the BLS locomotive Eea 935 402, and a multiple control has also been retrofitted.
