The Ee 3/3 IV is the most modern Ee 3/3 of the SBB and is designed to be used in border stations. The complicated technology for four power systems forced higher and wider superstructures in front of and behind the driver's cab and resulted in lower performance. At the same time, thanks to the more modern coupling rod drive, the top speed could be increased to 60 km / h. As with all Ee 3/3, the mechanical part was built by SLM Winterthur (factory no. 4323–4332), the electrics came from SAAS Geneva.

business

The Ee 3/3 IV are in use in border stations with France and Italy (mainly Geneva), where they perform largely the same tasks as the Ee 3/3. From 1994 onwards, all machines were equipped with multiple controls (analogous to the Ee 3/3 II ). In the course of the conversion, the vehicles were given new company numbers ( Ee 934 ), which, however, are still based on the '88 draft and would be different today. The first locomotives were scrapped in 2006; on January 1, 2016, three were still available.

When an SBB BDe 4/4 II was in the workshop, it was also used for regular passenger traffic between Geneva and La Plaine , whose route is under the French electricity system.
