Paľo Bielik , pseudonym Ján Bukva (born December 11, 1910 in Banská Bystrica -Senica, † April 23, 1983 in Bratislava ) was a Slovak actor , film director and screenwriter . He was the husband of actress Marta Černická-Bieliková . It is a founding member of the Slovak Cinematography.

After attending the vocational school in Banská Bystrica (1929) he had several jobs as a draftsman, mechanic, salesman and policeman. He played in an amateur theater in Banská Bystrica and in 1935 received the title role Jánošík in the film of the same name Jánošík by Jiří Mahen by the directors Karel Plicka and Martin Frič . The success of the film brought him to the Slovak National Theater in Bratislava for 1939–1942 . Between 1943 and 1945 he worked as a director of short films. During the Slovak National Uprising he made documentary recordings of insurgent warfare with Karel Krška , which became a document of freedom in 1945. After 1945 he was a feature film director.

He received the title of Honored Artist in 1955 and the title of National Artist in 1968 .
