Pabellón Island

The Pabellón Island ( Spanish Islote Pabellón ) is an island in the Palmer Archipelago off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula . In the group of the Melchior Islands , it is the southernmost of the two islands off the northern tip of the Omega Island and marks the south side of the western entrance to Andersen Harbor .

Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations carried out a rough map in 1927. Participants of an Argentine Antarctic expedition erected a flagpole here in the course of surveys carried out between 1946 and 1947, called the flag of Argentina and named the island. It is named after the name Pabellón for the Argentine national colors.
