Pablo Jofré (born April 18, 1974 , Santiago de Chile ) is a Chilean poet .

life and work

Pablo Jofré published his first poem while still at school. This is followed by the volumes Abecedario (2009, 2012, 2016; in German: Abecedar , Parasitenpresse , 2017), Usted an audioleporello in homage to La Maladie de la mort by Marguerite Duras (the edition is accompanied by a CD on which the poems in musical works of art were transformed, realized by the composer Mario Peña y Lillo) (Milena Berlin, 2013), as well as Extranjería (Cuarto Propio, 2017). In December 2019, Berlin Manila (LUPI / Zoográfico) will be published , his last collection of poems, which mimicked a trip from Berlin to Manila.

In 2009 Jofré received the Lagar Prize of the Chilean National Competition for Literature Gabriela Mistral (La Serena) for Abecedario, in 2010 the Premio Ciudad Sant Andreu de la Barca for the poem LA DANZA DE LA EXISTENCIA (in Extranjería ) and in 2016 the writing grant from the Chilean Ministry of Culture. His poem LA EDAD LIGERA (in Extranjería ) took part in the Bombing of poems (Casagrande-Southbank Center) action over the Jubilee Garden in London in 2012.

Some of his poems have been set to music, filmed and whole volumes have been translated into Greek (Gavrielides, Athens 2015), Italian (Ladolfi, Milan 2017), English (Insert Blanc, Los Angeles, California 2017) and French (BSN Press, Lausanne 2019). He took part in international literary festivals such as the Poetry Parnassus (London, 2012), the Festival Crossroads (New York, 2014) , the Malaysian George Town Literary Festival (2015 and 2016), the Festival internazionale di poesia di Genova (2017), the Literature Biennale in Jakarta (2017), as well as at the festivals Furia del Libro (Santiago) and FILVA (Valparaiso) (2018). In 2020 he took part in the Enclave Festival in Mexico City, directed by Rocío Cerón .

In the Berlin bookshop Andenbuch, Jofré Traduttore, traditore! a reading series by Latin American and German writers; translated works by Nora Gomringer , David Shook, Adrian Kasnitz and Elfriede Jelinek into Spanish and was resident at the Looren Translators 'House and the European Translators' College in Straelen in 2017 and 2018 . Together with the Berlin musician Andi Meißner (electric guitar) he leads the duo Jofre Meissner Project, whose repertoire includes poems by Extranjería , Abecedario and Usted .
