Paewhenua Island is an island in the Far North District of the Northland region on the North Island of New Zealand . It is located at the mouth of the Oruaiti River in Manganui Harbor .
It is about 1800 m long, 1000 m wide and 1.2 km 2 in size. The island is connected to the mainland by a dam and bridges. The State Highway 10 runs along the south coast of the island.
The island itself is private property and is mainly used for agriculture in addition to two properties and some wooded areas.
