The New Zealand State Highway 10 ( State Highway 10 or SH 10 for short ) is a trunk road of national importance on the North Island of New Zealand .

geography

The trunk road has a length of 104 km and runs near the north and east coast in the northeast of the Northland Peninsula . The road connects the coastal regions, while State Highway 1 runs inland. The SH 10 is in Awanui at the foot of aupouri peninsula and in Parakara southwest of the Bay of Islands with the SH 1 connected further branches in the Waitangi River to the State Highway 11 to the south east from.

Routing

After its start in Awanui, it initially runs some distance from the coast of Rangaunu Harbor to the northeast through the villages of Kareponia , Kaingaroa and Lake Ohia , where the access to the Karikari Peninsula branches off in a northerly direction . Then it swings east and crosses Aurere and the Taipa-Mangonui metropolitan area on the south side of Doubtless Bay . Then he crosses the Oruaiti River and reaches Oruaiti .

From here the SH 10 moves away in a south-easterly direction from the coast, which it reaches again at Kahoe and Waitaruke on the south-west bank of the Whangaroa Habour .
