The ReD Award (Reminders Day Award) has been presented annually in Berlin since 2001. It is derived from the name "Reminders Day" and the earlier name of the festive evening event Reminders Day Aids Gala . The prize is an award for extraordinary commitment in the fight against HIV and AIDS . The celebratory high point of the commemoration on "Reminders Day" is a benefit event including the presentation of the "ReD Award" for extraordinary commitment in the fight against HIV and AIDS. On special occasions u. U. also awarded a special prize. The gala stands for an event with dazzling guests, a varied program and a spectacular party with well-known DJs.

Since 2012 the big party has been called "Reminders Night - Beats & Benefit". Since the clinical picture of AIDS and life with HIV have changed, the non-profit initiative and the event concept were also subjected to a relaunch. The two-day AIDS congress "HIV in Dialog" now alternates two years with the international specialist congress "HIV in Focus". The venue remains the Red City Hall in Berlin, the patron of the Governing Mayor Klaus Wowereit. The initiative has been renamed "Update Your Life" and thus emphasizes the change in the clinical picture and life plans with AIDS / HIV and also the own further development with constant responsibility.

About the creation: The Heymann Schnell agency started the very successful campaign "I am a perpetrator, I am waiting for you" for the Berlin AIDS organization under the direction of René Heymann, who is also the founder and main partner of Heymann Schnell AG. It has thus ensured 100% more volunteers and 60% more donations. This was the reason that the board member of the Berlin AIDS Aid: René Heymann wanted to start a nationwide campaign. His agency created the idea of the Reminders Day and a campaign and brought in the agency Bartz plus, which was to equip the event of the Reminders Day Gala. For this cooperation, Remindersday gGmbH was founded in 2001 through the two agencies. The equal partners, each with a 25% share in the gGmbH, were René Heymann 25%, Pieter Schnell 25%, Joachim Bartz 25% and Bernhard Bartz 25%. After the minority shareholder (10% shares) of Heymann Schnell AG left the company in 2003, René Heymann gave his shares to Remindersday gGmbH and helped shape the 3rd Remindersday Award. That was his last work as the initial founder of the Remindersday Award in 2003. The Reminders Day took place in this format for 10 years before it was discontinued in 2013 because it was no longer financially viable.
