The New Zealand State Highway 37 ( State Highway 37 or SH 37 for short ) is a trunk road of national importance on the South Island of New Zealand .
geography
The highway is part of a length of 7.33 km and the shortest state highway in the country. It is located in the northeastern part of the Waitomo District , which is on the west coast of the North Island . Te Kuiti , with the administration of the district, is only eight kilometers to the south. The area where the road is located is also known as King Country .
history
The entire stretch of the highway was made public on June 26, 1997 in the New Zealand Gazette and thus its intended use was made.
Routing
The State Highway 37 begins at the junction near the settlement Hangatiki where the road from the New Zealand State Highway 3 branches off to the west. It ends after 7.33 km in the small village of Waitomo Caves .
