The New Zealand State Highway 69 ( State Highway 69 or SH 69 for short ) is a trunk road of national importance on the South Island of New Zealand .
geography
The trunk road has a length of 33 km and is located in the northwestern part of the South Island. The two-lane road over its entire length (one for each direction of travel) connects State Highway 6 west of the small settlement Inangahua and State Highway 7 near Reefton . The road runs on its southern route almost parallel to the Inangahua River and the railway line of the Stillwater - Ngawakau Line .
Routing
The State Highway 69 begins approximately 30 km Southeast east of Westport and 1.2 km west of the settlement Inangahua at its branch from State Highway 6 . The Highway encounters his first southwestern route to 2 km on the railway line of Stillwater - Ngawakau Line that it up to its end point in the small town of Reefton beginning then escorted the right side and after another 5.5 km on the left side. After a total of 7.5 km from its starting point, the SH 69 changes to the other side of the Inangahua River , crosses the Awarau River , also known as the Larry River , about 12.5 km north of Reefton and crosses 4.5 km before Reefton the Waitahu River before it enters the town of Reefton from the northwest and ends on Broadway , the town's main street.
