Waipapa is a small village in the Far North District of Northland on the North Island of New Zealand .
Origin of name
According to the Māori language , the name of the village means "river on the flat land".
geography
The village is located around 4 km northwest of Kerikeri on the Waipapa Stream . The New Zealand State Highway 10 runs through Waipapa and connects the village to the New Zealand State Highway 1 around 17 km further south near Pakaraka .
population
At the 2013 census, the village had 345 inhabitants. The local Māori belong to the Iwi of the Ngāpuhi .
Attractions
- Close to the village is the Stone Store , one of the oldest preserved stone buildings in New Zealand.
- The Kerikeri River with the beautiful Rainbow Falls runs south of Waipapa .
