Pakur is a city in the Indian state of Jharkhand .

The city is the capital of the Pakur district of the same name . Pakur is administered as a Nagar Panchayat . The city is divided into 19 wards (constituencies).

Demographics

The city's population is 45,840 according to the 2011 census. Pakur has a gender ratio of 938 women per 1000 men and thus a male surplus typical for India. The literacy rate was 77.6% in 2011. Almost 67% of the population are Hindus , approx. 28% are Muslim and approx. 5% belong to another or no religion. 13.9% of the population are children under 6 years of age.
