Erdődy-Hatvany Palace
The Erdődy-Hatvany Palace ( hun Erdődy-Hatvany palota ), also known as the Erdődy Palace , is a city palace and is located in the Castle District of Budapest. The address is Táncsics Mihály utca 7.
history
It was built in the years 1750–1769 for Count Georg Erdődy in the Baroque style. Later it became the property of the Hatvany family . It was damaged in the Battle of Budapest in 1944 and restored in the 1980s. Today the palace houses the Music Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the Béla Bartók archive.
architecture
The building has a rectangular plan around a paved courtyard. It's three stories high. The family coat of arms carved in stone is located above the main entrance. The side facing the river offers a panoramic view of the Pest district.
