Lantivy Palace
The Palais Lantivy is a listed palace in Ajaccio , the capital of the island of Corsica . It serves as the seat of the prefecture of Corsica.

It is located in downtown Ajaccio, northwest of the old town on the west side of the Cours Napoléon .
Architecture and history
With a royal decree of September 25, 1822, the new building of a prefectural seat was ordered. The building was then erected according to plans drawn up by the architect Alphonse de Gisors in 1824 . Construction work began in 1826 under the direction of the engineer Jouvin. The foundation stone was laid on July 2, 1826 by Prefect Jean Benoît Lantivy , to whom the name of the building goes back.
In 1829, Jouvin decided, contrary to the original plan, to build vaults into the house. The inauguration took place in 1830, although it was only used as an official residence from 1837 by the Prefect Jourdan du Var . A two-storey building in the style of neoclassicism was created on a rectangular floor plan with a square atrium . Its design is reminiscent of French and Italian palaces from the 17th and 18th centuries. A consultation room is located above the entrance hall. This and a neighboring room are decorated in neoclassical style with wall and ceiling paintings. The office of the deputy prefect is covered with a frescoed vault. The prefect's apartment with office, living room and dining room is arranged on the west side of the building facing the garden.
Later on, slightly recessed wings were added to the north and south, extending to the west into the garden.
On January 30, 1990, the building was registered as a monument historique and is listed under the number PA00099128. Extensive renovation work was carried out from 2000 to 2006. Until 2017, the Palais Lantivy served as the seat of the prefecture of the Corse-du-Sud department . In December 2017, the obelisk was erected in the garden of the palace in memory of the presidents of the prefecture .
