Palais Nostitz
The Nostitz Palace ( Nostický palác in Czech , also Nosticův palác ) is a palace on the Lesser Town in Prague . The palace, to which a garden is attached ( Nosticová zahrada ), is located on Maltézské náměstí (Maltese Square ) in the immediate vicinity of the Buquoy Palace .
history
The palace was built on the site of a garden and two demolished houses. Johann Hartwig von Nostitz-Rieneck had it built after 1662. The architect Francesco Caratti built the building in the Baroque style . The rococo portal was supplemented by Anton Haffenecker in 1765 .
Palais who preserved Nostitz their coin as well as the collection of paintings. It is currently in the Prague National Gallery . The 15,000-volume library is still located in the palace. It is administered by the National Museum .
In 1908 the palace was electrified. The Ministry of Culture and the Dutch Embassy used the building from 1924 (until 1996). The palace and garden have been registered as cultural monuments since 1958. From 1998 to 2002 the palace was completely renovated and expanded to become the seat of the Ministry of Culture.
