The Palais Pfeiff (also Pfeiffsches Haus ) is a baroque palace built from 1722 in the city center of Oberursel , which is now a cultural monument . It was built by the Kurmainzischer Hofkammerrat and resident Adam Anton Pfeiff (* around 1690; † 1748). It was built by Pfeiff as a patrician house and later served as an inn, with the names Zum Römischen Kaiser (1810–1873), Zum Deutschen Kaiser (1873–1918), Zum Deutschen Haus (1918–1993) and Alt-Oberurseler Brauhaus (since 1994 ). The stairwell and the stucco ceilings are remarkable .

Redevelopment

Extensive renovation work began in 1999, initially with recording the condition and damage. First, the roof, which was one of the first mansard roofs in Hesse to suffer from the distrust of local craftsmen, was inspected more closely. The mansard-style pitched roof was built on one side and then a gable roof was added, which set the outer wall on the street side in motion over the years. The roof was secured and numerous beams were replaced during difficult construction phases.

Then the interiors were restored. Numerous original paintings on the walls and the stucco ceiling were exposed again under heavy wallpaper and a thick layer of oil paint. All of these wall paintings have been restored according to the original findings. The state of Hesse has granted individual funding of € 400,000 for these buildings. The German Foundation for Monument Protection also offered its financial support and the city of Oberursel also contributed to the construction costs of more than € 1 million in the form of a special rental payment of € 50,000 for the "flower room" used by the registry office as a wedding room. The hall is designed in baroque style and takes its name from the flower murals on all four walls.

Current use - Alt-Oberurseler Brauhaus

The Palais Pfeiff is used as a pub brewery under the name Alt-Oberurseler Brauhaus . The beer sold in the restaurant is produced in-house in the Palais brewery . Over the year, 20 naturally cloudy types of beer are brewed according to the German purity law of 1516. There is also a closure distillery in which the Oberursel beer brandy is produced. The brewery was voted one of the 50 best village inns in Hesse by DEHOGA and one of the most popular microbreweries in Hesse by the Falstaff journal .
