Palazzo Balbi-Valier Sammartini (also Palazzo Molin Balbi Valier della Trezza or Palazzo Balbi Valier ) is a palace in Venice in the Italian region of Veneto . It is located in the Dorsoduro sestiere overlooking the Grand Canal between the Palazzo Contarini Polignac and the Palazzo Loredan Cini , near Campo San Vio .

history

The palazzo was originally built in Gothic style but was replaced by a more modern building in the 17th century. In 1828 it was enriched by the creation of the adjoining park, embedded where the dilapidated Palazzo Paradiso once stood. Today it is divided into several properties and also houses an art gallery.

description

The three-part facade of the palace, which was created in the 17th century, looks elegant thanks to two special structures that protrude symmetrically on both sides and are made of stones from Istria in front of the inner walls. They are curved from the three-part entrance door towards the water and frame an unusual terrace on the Grand Canal. On the upper floors there are two quadruple windows and four pairs of simple windows.

Inside there is a courtyard with a fountain, above which a quadruple window and a Venetian window with three openings open. On the rear facade there is a huge baroque portal on the ground floor, adorned with an imposing coat of arms.
