Palazzo Zorzi Bon is a palace in Venice in the Veneto region of Italy . It is located in the Sestiere Castello with a view of the Rio di San Severo between the Palazzo Zorzi Galeoni and the Palazzo Grimani a Santa Maria Formosa .

description

The palace in the style of the 14th century was modernized in the Renaissance , but it still has an original five-ply keel-arched window on the main floor and a similar four-ply window above. These windows are flanked by two pairs of individual keel arched windows. All of the main floor windows have protruding balconies . On the mezzanine floor below, the window structure of the main floor is repeated, but with small, rectangular windows. On the ground floor there are two pointed arch portals to the water, shifted from the center to the left , between which there is a small, oval window. To the right of the right pointed arch portal sits a round arch portal to the water, but it has been walled up. This arrangement is flanked by two small, rectangular windows. The entire facade is made of exposed brickwork , the frames of the openings and the balconies are made of Istrian limestone . The mirrors of the keel arched windows are plastered and painted beige.

The addition of the surname Bon , which is repeated in Bogengasse, from which one reaches the land portal of the palace, is due to a member of this family renting a floor of the palace.

The palace, which is now divided into apartments that disrupted the old structure, was the inspiration for the book The Zorzi Affair by US writer Sylva Prince .

  1. “The Calle dell'Arco in Ruga Giuffa is also called“ Bon ”because a certain G. Bon lived there in 1713 and 1740 and paid rent to a certain Marin Zorzi . We believe that the Bon family took up residence in this palace, rich in oriental sculptures and marble slabs, behind the alley mentioned. "
