Palettino

A Palettino is a term used in horticulture and plant trade reusable -Warenträger ( " tray ") made of injection Resin for the transport and culture of potted plants . These product carriers were developed on the initiative of and in cooperation with the Association of German Flower Wholesalers and the Central Horticultural Association (ZVG) and were launched in 1992 as a pilot test by the "Nordwest Blumen Wiesmoor Horticultural Cooperative " in Northern Germany (initially through the "Palettino Mehrweg Pool GmbH & Co.", Wiesmoor) , then introduced nationwide in Germany from 1999. They are manufactured by the Technoplant company ( Hawita Group) in Emstek , distributed by its subsidiary PSG. They are now used by numerous important companies in the industry and in almost all flower wholesale markets and auctions and there are over 25 million pieces in circulation - and the trend is constantly increasing. On February 1, 2007, however, the marketer Landgard left the Palettino reusable system and switched to one-way packaging .

Thanks to the cost advantages of the Palettino system for producers and retailers, economy and ecology would also run in the same direction.

The Palettino system also pays off economically compared to the one-way trays for several reasons:

• The steadily increasing flood of disposable trays used up to now led to space and handling problems (since disposable trays also have stackable and standardized shapes, but there are numerous different shapes for the different pot sizes, so sorting takes a lot of time; due to soiling and fatigue failure, there is often none Stacking possible)
• Rising waste fees, with requirements for the purity of recycling materials that are difficult to meet in the industry (contamination with organic materials such as soil and plant residues)
• In the plant trade, transport packaging is often returned to the upstream supplier anyway, so that no new logistics have to be set up.
• the Palettino system has a significantly longer shelf life (the manufacturer guarantees a minimum shelf life of five years), is largely break-proof and can be used more universally (also suitable for outdoor use, as it is UV-stable).

In contrast to the one-way trays, palettinos are made of thicker, stiffer material. They are visually distinguishable by their generally black color (disposable trays are predominantly red-brown on the top), an open grid-like bar structure of the pot nests and a laterally attached plate with vertical corrugations. The provider charges a deposit of € 1.50 per pallet, plus € 0.22 per exchange process for wear and tear and cleaning.
