The Paliovouna ( Greek Η Παλιοβούνα (f. Sg.) Or with its official name Klokova Κλόκοβα) is a mountain in western Greece in the regional district of Aetolia-Acarnania , west of Andirrio on the coast of the Gulf of Patras with an altitude of 1038 m. In ancient times he was called Tafiassos ( Greek Ταφιασσός ). It rises steeply from the coast in the south to its only peak, while it drops slightly more gently to the north. The characteristic mountain determines the view from Andirrio to the west. From its summit you have a panoramic view of the whole of Aetolia-Acarnania, as well as the beaches ofFokida , the mountains from Achaia to the islands of Lefkada , Ithaka , Kefalonia and Zakynthos .

Name meaning

It owes its name to the fact that since ancient times (παλιά) it has made it difficult to pass through from the west to the region around Naupaktos.
