The Palmer Basin is a small lake basin off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located south of the Palmer Archipelago and north-northwest of the Wilhelm Archipelago .

The designation, which has been recognized by the Advisory Committee for Undersea Features since January 2007, goes back to a proposal by Margareth Knuth of the National Science Foundation . The lake basin is named after the name of the Palmer station on the neighboring Anvers island . It is named after the American seal catcher captain Nathaniel Palmer (1799–1877).
