Palo is a memory-based, multi-dimensional Real-Time OLAP - database server ( MOLAP ) to manage business or statistical databases ( Multidimensional Database ). In addition to the multidimensional query, data can also be written back and consolidated in real time.

Palo keeps all data completely in the main memory to enable quick access to the data. The server is open source . A Microsoft Excel add-in component carries out the communication between the Palo OLAP database and Excel. A complete ETL server and client libraries are also available.

Palo can be integrated into other software environments via APIs in Java, PHP, C / C ++ or .NET. There is also an open source integration in OpenOffice.org under the name PalOOCa (Palo for OpenOffice.org Calc).

In conjunction with Microsoft Excel, Palo is used as a business intelligence and performance management application, mostly for controlling and financial planning . With Palo, any number of Excel workstations can be linked online, all of which access a central database (“ Single Point of Truth ”).

Palo is part of the Jedox business intelligence software solution . Data can be written back to the Palo OLAP database via the frontend used, both via a local Excel add-in and via a web interface. The server is available as open source and proprietary software.

The MOLAP server Palo is developed by Jedox AG from Freiburg im Breisgau .
