Paluknys is a small town ( miestelis ) and the seat of the Paluknys District in the Trakai district in the Vilnius district in Lithuania .

history

Paluknys emerged from a street village . In 1794 a chapel was built. In 1921 a Catholic parish was founded. During the Soviet period (in Soviet Lithuania ), the Merkys experimental farm settlement of the Lithuanian Livestock and Veterinary Institute (now the Veterinary Academy of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences ) was established. Also, the Aviation Technology Vilnius Sports Club was established at the Ministry of Light Industry of the LSSR. Here, the glider sport was practiced at Paluknys Airport .

In 2011, the Paluknys coat of arms was approved.
